The San Sebastian Festival opens the third call for entries for the Zinemaldia Startup Challenge
The competition is aimed at entrepreneurs and start-ups from Europe who propose new business projects based on the incorporation of new technologies in the audiovisual field. The deadline for entries is 1 June.

• Vicomtech's IDAZLE platform for generating automatic subtitles already provides tangible improvements in quality and productivity • Joint tests have been carried out for six months within the framework of Impulsa Vision Empresas, RTVE's sandbox • More than half of the TVE subtitlers have participated in them

BBVA y Vicomtech colaboran en la investigación del procesamiento del lenguaje natural
La colaboración entre Vicomtech, centro de investigación de inteligencia artificial del País Vasco, y BBVA se ha centrado en cómo lograr que un algoritmo desarrollado para trabajar en un idioma concreto pueda ser reutilizado en otras lenguas y también en diferentes canales (hablados o escritos). Gracias a los resultados obtenidos, BBVA está explorando estas técnicas para mejorar la interacción entre clientes y gestores del banco.

EKIN, a step further towards interaction in natural language with Industrial Production Machines also in Basque
Vicomtech, UPV/EHU, Tekniker, Ikor, IMH and UZEI join forces in the EKIN project to develop interaction mechanisms between operators and machines. Progress will be made in the implementation of natural language interaction solutions based on advanced Artificial Intelligence technologies, also in Basque.

Vicomtech achieves the second place in the 2020 Albayzín Challenge for Spanish transcription systems using less training data
The Centre has obtained the second place with a speech recognition system trained with 5 times less data than the winning system, which represents a great technological milestone for the team
