Vicomtech (www.vicomtech.org) is a private Applied Research Center specialized in Artificial Intelligence, Visual Computing and Interaction located in Donostia-San Sebastian (Spain). Vicomtech is a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) and GraphicsVision.ai, an international network specialized in Computer Graphics (https://graphicsvision.ai/). Formed by more than 200 researchers -more than 60 are PhD- in various technologies and application areas and more than 80 scientific publications per year, Vicomtech fosters the use of the latest cutting-edge technologies in applications that support the innovation cycle in companies and organizations in our environment, including those in the health and biotechnology sector. With a focus on applied research for industrial problems, approximately 50% of the center's activity is under contract, 20% are European projects -such as those of the Horizon Europe program- and 30% are national and local grants, mostly obtained in competitive calls.

The Digital Health and Biomedical Technologies Department is a source of innovative developments for the biomedical sector, with applications such as biomedical image analysis, biomedical simulation, decision support systems, computer assisted surgery and many others.

We are looking for a person with technical skills at the computational level, who is comfortable in a constant collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. A person capable of having an IT server support role both on premise and in the cloud, with some web development and mobile platform capabilities. In addition, the ability to handle hardware equipment, both computational and imaging or electromedical devices that are part of the Department's laboratory will be an asset.

Your work activity will be directed to the performance of the following tasks:

  • Manage all computer resources (hardware and software) of the health area, so that they are at full performance, with a clear criterion of anticipation, responsibility and reliability.
  • Coordinate the general management aspects of the health laboratory, both in hardware and software and in the integration of the same in the infrastructure of the center.
  • Perform developments oriented to the tuning and effective deployment of solutions at demo, prototype or product level, which may also include front-end aspects.
  • Maintain constant communication with the IT department and with the research staff of the health area in order to provide a quality service.

Candidates must have:

Education: Professional Technician in Computer Systems or Degree in Telecommunications Informatics.

Languages: Medium/high level of English, Spanish, other languages will be valued, in particular Basque and French.

Experience:    Experience in the following areas will be valued:

  • Experience in Linux working environments (scripting, service management, analysis and performance tuning).
  • Container encapsulation technologies, mainly Docker.
  • Experience in application development for Android and/or iOS mobile platforms.
  • Experience in front-end development as back-end and/or with Angular, Node.js, React, JavaScript and/or Django frameworks and knowledge of HTML and CSS.
  • DevOp automation tools: Gitlab CI/CD, Jenkins, Chef, Puppet, Ansible.
  • Bare-metal virtualization solutions: Proxmox, MAAS, OpenStack.
  • Service/deployment monitoring solutions: Nagios, sematext, Monitis.
  • Knowledge of cloud service providers and their service offerings (e.g. IaaS, PaaS): Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Azure.
  • Working in health and biomedical related fields and laboratory environments.
