Advanced Industrial Artificial Intelligence Services for Smart Manufacturing

Although the level of digitalization among companies in Gipuzkoa and the Basque Country has significantly increased in recent years, the adoption of technologies associated with Industry 4.0 remains limited in the industrial sector, particularly among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). In order to advance toward a model aligned with the principles of Industry 4.0 and 5.0, it is essential to strengthen various key technological areas.

On the one hand, rapid developments in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) are driving its integration into many aspects of everyday life, raising public awareness of its potential and fueling growing demand for its application in industrial contexts. However, translating these advances into industrial environments still requires considerable research efforts to enable effective adoption by industrial companies.

On the other hand, industrial AI applications demand advanced data acquisition systems capable of offering a comprehensive view of different data sources within the company (such as machines, production lines, MES, CMMS, ERP systems, etc.). Furthermore, the data must be collected at a sufficient frequency to understand process behavior and generate value. These advanced data acquisition processes, in turn, require progress in paradigms, architectures, and technologies that make their implementation cost-effective and accessible for companies.

The objective of this proposal is to conduct research into the necessary technological foundations for the design and validation of a modular and scalable platform that enables the creation and deployment of industrial services based on cutting-edge AI technologies, supported by advanced data acquisition infrastructure.
