New technological solutions in precision engineering and advanced metrology for production systems with sustainable, zero-defect processes.

ACCUBASK

Duration:

01.05.2023 - 31.12.2025

The ACCUBASK research project proposed in this document aims to achieve a qualitative leap in precision engineering technologies in order to develop machines and production systems with performance levels that surpass current standards. The project seeks to enable intelligent, efficient, and sustainable processes in terms of resource use, while ensuring zero-defect quality in the final processed parts. Today, numerous risks and uncertainties threaten the ability of Basque manufacturing companies to remain leaders in Euskadi’s economic engine—from macroeconomic and geopolitical factors to energy costs and, above all, global competitive pressure. In all cases, the solution lies in bringing competitive, technologically differentiated products to the market and achieving excellence in the human teams within the sector’s companies. ACCUBASK aims to contribute to this mission by strengthening the technological differentiation of Euskadi’s manufacturing systems through precision.

Precision is one of the three pillars that define high-performance manufacturing machines and systems:

  1. availability, ensuring capable, reliable, and controlled equipment;

  2. automation, enabling autonomous and connected operation; and

  3. precision, guaranteeing that production meets the defined quality standards.
    Although there are different initiatives in Euskadi aimed at improving various aspects of manufacturing, ACCUBASK stands out as a proposal focused specifically on industrial precision and metrology for both parts and machines.

To carry out the project, a consortium has been established with the capabilities required to undertake the necessary research tasks linked to the technological challenges identified. This consortium is formed by leading Basque companies in the Advanced Manufacturing sector, along with a set of research organizations specialized in the technologies required for the project. The project leader is SORALUCE S.Coop., an international benchmark in the development of milling, boring, turning, and multitasking solutions for key industrial sectors. The rest of the consortium is described in detail in Section 6 of this document.

Three major technological challenges have been defined to address the project’s main goal: achieving a qualitative leap in the capabilities of production systems through new solutions based on precision engineering technologies and advanced metrology.
