Vicomtech will continue to drive Artificial Intelligence, talent, and technology transfer from its new headquarters in Zorrotzaurre

22.07.2025

The Bilbao Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park, located on the island of Zorrotzaurre, is now a reality with the start of construction of what will be its first building. During Monday’s presentation event, alongside the Lehendakari, Imanol Pradales, the Deputy General of Bizkaia, Elixabete Etxanobe, and the Mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, several major projects were announced, led by IDOM and the Mondragon Corporation, joined by Vicomtech and Ikerlan.

The Campus, aimed at housing technologically advanced companies, will be located on the site of the former Tarabusi pavilion, on Avenida de las Galleteras.

A year and a half after the opening of Vicomtech’s current headquarters in the Ribera de Zorrotzaurre 2 building, the centre will continue its activity in a new location within the Bilbao Campus of the Basque Country Technology Park.

In terms of building distribution, Mondragon Unibertsitatea and Ikerlan will operate in the Consonni building—the largest one—while Vicomtech will be located in the smaller Lancor building, in collaboration with the Basque Country Technology Park. Both buildings will be interconnected to form an international hub for knowledge and digital technology.

In this new space, Vicomtech reaffirms its commitment to Bilbao-Bizkaia by contributing to the development of Artificial Intelligence technologies and their transfer to the Basque industrial fabric, enhancing its competitiveness. Additionally, the centre reinforces its role in promoting the Basque language through language technologies and in driving STEAM talent.
