Digitization of Logistics Processes in Large Infrastructures

Its main challenge is the correct definition of the process itself, its scope and the interconnections it may have with other systems, as well as its supervision, facilitating decision making.

 

Therefore, the TRAZASTOCK project aims to implement a comprehensive system that allows the control of flows and traceability in an intelligent way and the digitization of processes in large warehouses and infrastructures, allowing to cover and manage the entire process chain, monitor the indicators of each of them and manage times, alarms and actions (support mechanisms for decision making).

 

This control and traceability will be carried out in 4 areas, 3 Main Application Blocks and an auxiliary block:

VEHICLE TRACEABILITY: Comprises all the tasks and processes involved in the traceability of vehicles from the time they access the controlled infrastructures until they leave them.

TRACEABILITY OF GOODS - STOCK CONTROL: Includes all management related to the traceability of the goods themselves and the stock stored. It consists of the continuous and real control of the merchandise that is moved and stored in this type of large infrastructures.

OPTIMIZATION OF INTERNAL MANAGEMENT: This includes the management platform itself, developed within the framework of the TRAZASTOCK project. Through it, each of the processes defined in the two previous blocks will be supervised, and the indicators associated with each of them (times, permits, duration, etc.), whose monitoring and control will be carried out through innovative control panels, will be checked to ensure that they correspond to the planned protocols.

Each of these major application blocks will be broken down into the various specific processes and will be analyzed and validated in the pilots, through the scenarios defined for validation and provided by the consortium members themselves.

 

Vicomtech's role within the Trazastock project will focus on the application of Machine Vision technologies, which together with the most advanced Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence techniques will allow the reconstruction and volumetric calculation of stored materials from the visual data extracted by specific sensors.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS

It is integrated as a transversal axis of the project, being included and treated in all the aspects considered. The aim is, through data analysis, to quantify the impact that goods movement and storage operations have on the environmental conditions inside and outside the facility where it takes place.

The target customer of the TRAZASTOCK technological solution is the operator/agent directly involved in the processes in large infrastructure environments (mainly port authorities, large warehouses of various raw materials and logistics operators). The project will provide them with information and services in real time, allowing them to integrate the application into their information systems and processes, thus improving their performance, efficiency and safety.

In short, this integrated system will enable the control of flows and processes based on an intelligent procedure under the premise of a new digital challenge for the agents and infrastructure entities that are part of each of the major Application Blocks: Vehicle Traceability, Merchandise Traceability - Stock Control and Internal Management Optimization. Therefore, the simple fact of controlling the material throughout its logistics process has as a consequence an obvious positive economic impact in itself, making it possible to (1) identify and improve critical points, (2) improve confidence in the acquisition of products and services, and (3) delimit, identify and record all movements and handling of the product, minimizing losses.

 

ABOUT TRAZASTOCK

The consortium that has launched TRAZASTOCK is made up of the entities Eurohelp Consulting -project leader-, Euskadi Mobility and Logistics Cluster, Estibadora Algeposa, Ikusi, Irontec, Ondoan, Profersa, Railsider, Sidenor, and Siderex-Clúster de Siderurgia de Euskadi.

It also has the participation of the agents of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network, Ceit, Sidenor R&D, Tecnalia and Vicomtech. With a budget of 5.096.036,05€, this project is financed by the Basque Government, within the framework of the HAZITEK aid program for the support of Industrial Research Projects and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
