Analysis of the current context, challenges and needs in the medium and long term, in Big Data Bioinformatics for Health Research in the Basque Country
BIODATAK ERAIKIZ
Duration:
01.01.2023 - 31.12.2023
The project originates from the Big Data in Health Research working group, within the Digital Health and Big Data area of the RIS3 Personalized Health/PCTI 2030 strategy. Its main goal is to boost R&D&I in health in the Basque Country, analyzing the current context and future needs in Big Data and bioinformatics. It aims to develop infrastructures and tools to support the storage, management, and analysis of large volumes of healthcare data, while ensuring data security and governance.
The project promotes the digital transformation of the healthcare system by leveraging massive data for biomedical research, disease prevention, and treatment, and by strengthening preparedness for health crises. It aligns with the Digital and Inclusive Euskadi transitions and ensures continuous communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
It also integrates a gender perspective, following the SAGER guidelines, to prevent biases in data analysis and research outcomes. Overall, the initiative seeks to build a personalized, secure, innovative, and equitable healthcare system within the PCTI 2030 framework.
