BIo-inspired SUrfaces for Machine elements

The BISUM project is working on key application areas that have been identified as strategic for sustained and sustainable industrial growth, as defined in Basque Industry 4.0:
1- Advanced materials:
- Formulation and development of new bio-inspired functional surfaces and materials through the concept of Green Tribology.
- Advanced modelling/simulation. 
2-Advanced Manufacturing Technologies 
- Optimisation of laser texturing processes assisted by surface metrology. 
- Simulation and modelling of the laser texturing process
3-Mechatronic systems
-Precision engineering through femtosecond laser texturing. 
-Advanced surface sensors and actuators. 
4. Artificial intelligence and data science 
- Artificial vision and imaging technologies. 
- Machine learning & deep learning.

The main sectors that will benefit from the results obtained in BISUM, given its cross-cutting nature,
will be the energy, automotive, aeronautics and aerospace industries.
