Live Streamming with Automated Multilingual Subtitling.

The StreAmS project will develop advanced ICT services to provide enhanced functionalities for the generation and enrichment of digital and audiovisual content. Within this 2021-2027 Strategic Plan, GAIA identifies internationalization as the main driver for the evolution of the ICT sector. Different preferred markets/regions were identified based on (1) their starting point in the use of ICT technologies, (2) the potential growth of their economies, and (3) lower access barriers for our companies. These identified markets/regions include Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Colombia, Peru, and Mexico, countries where Spanish is the official language, making them a clear target market for StreAmS’s new tools.

Moreover, GAIA’s Strategic Plan also identifies several target segments that, due to their projection over the period, intensive use of ICT technologies, and innovation potential, are considered spaces of opportunity. These target segments are: Smart Territory, Smart Industry, Smart Society, and transversal technologies and sectors. The technological solutions developed by the StreAmS project are also transversal and horizontal, applicable across all other economic activity segments.

Additionally, the Pilot Group for Cultural and Creative Industries of the Basque Government decided to focus on: (1) developing activities, tools, and/or services that facilitate the internationalization of Basque companies, (2) positioning Euskadi as a global reference in multilingualism, (3) adding value to ICT products through language technologies, and (4) identifying specific needs within the vertical priorities of RIS3. In this context, the StreAmS project aligns with all four points, considering its strong technological commitment, its transversal nature that allows solutions to be exploited individually and across different sectors, its multilingual capabilities (Basque, Spanish, English, and French), the incorporation of language technologies as a key tool for the solution’s potential, and its ability to provide solutions to companies in any RIS3 priority.
