Speech and Language technologies applied to the RIS3 areas

The Berbaola 2018 project, which we submitted to the Elkartek 2018 call for proposals, refers to the second year of the two-year Berbaola project submitted to the Elkartek 2017 call. In that call, the Berbaola project only received funding for the first year, so we are now submitting its second year to the Elkartek 2018 call. All the general explanatory sections (summary, objectives, scope, etc.) remain the same as in the original Berbaola project. The sections detailing each of the research tasks and subtasks have been updated, including information on what was done in 2017 and what remains to be done in 2018. The sections on timeline, deliverables, budget, etc., have also been updated. They now include
only information from the 2018 fiscal year.

The development of BerbaOla would generate industrial and commercial opportunities for applications in the language industry, such as:

"Optimization of industrial processes for linguistic management of documentation: document translation and authoring tools (proofreaders, document generation, etc.)."
"Communication and personal assistance (virtual assistants, human-machine communication for manufacturing, customer service, and interaction with robots; intelligent search engines and automatic question answering)."
"Intelligent information and knowledge processing (information extraction and mining from texts and content, document classification, automatic summarization, document forensics, etc.)."
"Language learning and computer-mediated learning."
"Technologies for creative content."
