Support for advanced screening and risk reduction in the perinatal stage
NONA
Duration:
01.04.2019 - 31.12.2020
NONA's objective is to investigate various technologies that will clarify which of the multiple available variables (prenatal data of the mother and fetus, birth time and the child's first years, environmental pollution exposure, etc.) may be predictive of the various childhood problems mentioned above, such as diabetes, asthma, cognitive impairment, obesity, etc. Based on these variables, NONA will offer different functionalities that provide knowledge about a specific child's risk of developing a disease and support decision-making on how to minimize the impact of this risk.
Expected Results
Health Outcomes
The project proposes to validate the NONA platform. This involves the participation of Cruces University Hospital and the BioCruces Bizkaia Health Research Institute (IIS BioCruces Bizkaia). BioCruces Bizkaia has assembled a multidisciplinary team of experts from the various involved areas to design the platform's potential applications and carry out its validation.
Technical Results
NONA proposes the further exploitation of various sources, such as clinical data from the Electronic Health Record (EHR), imaging biomarkers obtained from ultrasound scans, open data environmental data, and cognitive information from the education department. This will lead to the possibility of developing advanced predictive algorithms that help prevent potential diseases and/or complications.
