Vicomtech (www.vicomtech.org) is a private Applied Research Center specialized in Artificial Intelligence, Visual Computing, and Interaction located in Donostia-San Sebastián (Spain). Vicomtech is a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA) and GraphicsVision.ai, an international network specialized in Computer Graphics.
The Digital Health and Biomedical Technologies Department leads innovation in the sector through digital health solutions and precision medicine enabled by AI, health data spaces, medical image analysis, and computer-assisted surgery. With 12 projects in the Horizon Europe program, we collaborate with companies, technology centers, and the healthcare environment to develop cutting-edge digital technologies.
We are looking for motivated junior or pre-doctoral researchers with a vocation for applied research and demonstrated experience—preferably at an international level—in the fields of medical image analysis and/or computer vision with AI. The role involves developing predictive models and medical imaging biomarkers for cardiovascular risk within the European project CARAMEL, as well as AI and computer vision-enabled autonomous robotic surgery (CPI AUTOPILOT project). Proven experience with Deep Learning models based on CNNs, GNNs, Transformers, etc., for image, vision, or signal analysis is required. Experience or knowledge in other related technologies in the medical domain will be valued, especially in Generative AI applied to health (LLMs, synthetic data generation models...), data analytics, data spaces, and Big Data in health or digital health, as well as experience in specific areas of disease prevention, diagnosis, or treatment.
We are looking for proactive candidates with a solid technical foundation and the capacity for initiative. A positive attitude toward teamwork and the necessary soft skills to communicate effectively and understand the needs of partners and clients in international projects are fundamental.
Candidates must have:
- Specialization Master’s Degree in Medical Imaging or Computer Vision applied to the medical domain. Alternatively, a Master’s degree specializing in Computing and AI with mastery of Deep Learning technologies, using common toolkits and development languages (Tensorflow, Keras, Pytorch).
- Proficiency in written and spoken Spanish and English. Ability to participate fluently in consortium meetings and handle documentation in English.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and empathy skills to work in international and multidisciplinary environments.
- Availability for occasional travel.
- Proven experience in medical image analysis and computer vision with Deep Learning, or alternatively, with other types of health-related applications and data using Deep Learning.
