2014 SUMMER SCHOOL ON NEUROREHABILITATION

06.10.2014

Camilo Cortés, researcher of the eHealth and Biomedical Applications department, has participated in the congress entitled “2014 Summer School on Neurorehabilitation: Meeting Clinical and Patient Needs and Expectations”, presenting a method [1] that can be applied to estimate the posture of the human limbs during their rehabilitation with exoskeletons. Such posture estimation allows to: (a) improve the representation of the patient in virtual reality games and (b) to enable the patient progress assessment.

The objective of the congress, celebrated at Baiona (Galicia, Spain) from 14th to 19th September, was to provide in depth education on Wearable Robotics, Muscle Synergies, Functional Electrical Stimulation, Virtual Rehabilitation, Neuromusculoskeletal modeling and Brain Computer Interfaces. These methods and tools are being applied in the neurorehabilitation of motor dysfunction following stroke, spinal cord injury, and cerebral palsy.
