The 5GTEST project aims to build expertise in the application of advanced 5G technologies, including network slicing, multi-access edge computing, self-organising networks, and stand-alone unicast/multicast/broadcast modes, in sectors such as advanced manufacturing, connected vehicles, and audiovisual production.

To achieve this, four key aspects are addressed. First, the deployment of an infrastructure capable of virtualizing, monitoring, and controlling both wired and radio networks to provide connectivity for specific applications and services.

Second, the parameterization of the specific characteristics of applications and services, including operational parameters and quality of service, to meet criteria for bandwidth, latency, concurrency, adaptation speed, and security.

Third, the development of tools to generate real network traffic, replicating the usage intensity specific to each sector.

Fourth, the creation of intelligent mechanisms to adapt the network to different types of concurrent traffic.

The radio component must absorb traffic demand, accelerate its delivery, and allocate resources efficiently, as well as operate in multicast or broadcast modes when multiple systems access the same data.

5G networks enable not only new levels of connectivity and low latency but also the balancing of cost and performance thanks to their flexibility and advanced communication modes. The project results will materialize in an open platform with APIs, extensible with new algorithms and tools, deployable across different infrastructures, and capable of handling industrial, connected vehicle, and audiovisual production traffic.
