The SMARTMUGI project develops an intelligent platform designed to enhance urban mobility in Donostia and other cities. Its main goal is to support both operational and strategic decision-making by integrating multiple mobility data sources: roadside sensors, social-ITS systems, and underused telecommunications data. The system consolidates and processes mobility information, enabling analysis of real-time and historical data, the creation of dashboards, and the visualization of key indicators.
The platform incorporates data fusion, simulation, and prediction algorithms, allowing the evaluation of various mobility scenarios such as expanding bike lanes, modifying sidewalks, or redesigning road layouts. In addition, the project proposes the electrification and advanced monitoring of shared bicycles, motorcycles, and last-mile delivery fleets.
Its architecture is built around a multilingual web application supported by PostgreSQL and advanced web technologies such as HTML5, JavaScript, and WebSockets. Multiple modules for control, prediction, and visualization have been validated, confirming the system’s technical feasibility. Overall, SMARTMUGI offers a robust solution for managing and optimizing urban mobility through data-driven intelligence and predictive modelling.
