Within this framework, IRAUBAT aims to generate innovative knowledge to advance the circularity and sustainability of critical and strategic materials used in lithium-ion batteries, addressing the aforementioned technological challenges and contributing to the development of more sustainable, circular and safer batteries, thereby strengthening the Basque Country’s technological autonomy and industrial competitiveness.

IRAUBAT’s Objectives

IRAUBAT seeks to develop disruptive technologies in the circularity, sustainability and resilience of the supply of critical materials, taking an integrated approach to the scientific and technological challenges that limit the transition towards a sustainable and competitive battery model. Its central objective is to build capabilities that enable the understanding, optimisation, digitalisation and scaling of advanced solutions throughout the circular value chain, from early characterisation and sustainable manufacturing to reuse, remanufacturing and recycling.
