Objectification of medical diagnosis in emergencies through the use of advanced data analytics tools for knowledge extraction
EXCON
Duration:
01.03.2017 - 31.12.2018
The objective of the Excon project is to investigate the innovative concept of the Intelligent Health Record (IHR) and to develop functional prototypes of high-value-added services for healthcare professionals.
The Excon project begins with the current scenario of widespread implementation of Electronic Health Record (EHR) solutions by healthcare providers, representing a significant leap forward in clinical information management. However, it still suffers from some problems, such as the lack of coding, which affects 80% of the stored information. This has led to the recent emergence of innovative coding solutions based on the Semantic Health Record paradigm. In the medium term, these solutions will allow the main medical concepts present in patients' medical records to be structured and related according to internationally recognized standardized terminologies such as SNOMED CT, ICD-10, etc.
In this way, the information contained in the electronic health record will become structured, identified, and uniquely linked, and consequently, it will be automatically processable by computer systems. This opens up a wide range of possibilities for highly relevant applications in the medium and long term, both for healthcare professionals and for patients themselves. This has come to be known as the Intelligent Health Record (IHR), which will be characterized by the integration of high-value-added services that will consume the information and proactively and predictively ensure patient safety, the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services, the discovery of new clinical knowledge, and support for professionals, among other things.
