Smart and agile BRTA ecosystem to accelerate the implementation of the new generation of robotics in the factories of the future in the Basque Country

TREBEZIA

Duration:

01.03.2021 - 31.12.2022

Objectives

TrebezIA proposes standardisation with a view to digitising the results obtained in previous Elkartek projects. The MALGUROB and ELKARBOT projects focused on the development of low-level functional blocks to solve very specific tasks (part segmentation, trajectory optimisation to avoid obstacles, definition of gripping points, improvement of robot precision, etc.). However, as reflected in the aforementioned Gaia document, the Basque industry considers that certain needs still exist in the pre-production, production and post-production phases in the field of flexible and intelligent robotics.

For this reason, TrebezIA draws on the basic developments made in the Malgurob and Elkarbot projects but sets itself the more ambitious goal of answering why the implementation of flexible robotics is still slow, through the creation of an agile and heterogeneous ecosystem that can be easily deployed.

- TrebezIA focuses on researching and developing technology so that low-level functional blocks can be implemented in industry in a simple and agile manner: FLEXIBILITY

- It addresses challenges such as interoperability with the machine ecosystem and between heterogeneous robots that can perform different functions (AGVs for transporting parts, collaborative robots to assist in operations): VERSATILITY

- Training AI models by parallelising simulation and real physical signals to make process models more robust: ROBUSTNESS.

Four use cases will be implemented to demonstrate the modularity of the results achieved in previous projects, as well as in TrebezIA's PT1, PT2 and PT3 work packages. In this way, the project will have four demonstrators to show the Industrial Advisory Board, which will also be set up during the project, the potential of flexible robotics and the digitalisation of industrial processes. It is important to highlight the fact that these contacts with companies in the sector have already begun and some companies have shown interest in participating in this board, as can be seen in the letters of support.

Results

- BRTA ecosystems of functionalities (BRTA modules) that can be easily integrated into complete solutions (such as the four demonstrators proposed).

- Close collaboration with the Industrial Advisory Board to guide developments throughout the project and the future exploitation of the project results.

- Demonstrators of different real use cases in Basque industry.

- Continue and strengthen collaboration between project members.

- Indexed publications and patents.
