VirtPath-Ictus is a healthcare research project coordinated by Biogipuzkoa in collaboration with Vicomtech and other partners from the Basque innovation ecosystem. Its main goal is to improve care for stroke patients by predicting their clinical pathways. The project combines real-world data (RWD), obtained from routine clinical practice, with synthetic data generated through advanced artificial intelligence and predictive modeling techniques. By integrating these two sources of information, VirtPath-Ictus aims to analyze, simulate, and anticipate patient evolution throughout the different stages of the care process—from emergency response to rehabilitation—in order to identify patterns, optimize resource allocation, and reduce critical response times. Moreover, the use of synthetic data helps preserve privacy and data security, enabling the development of robust predictive models without compromising patient confidentiality. Ultimately, the project seeks to foster a more personalized, efficient, and evidence-based healthcare system, improving both clinical outcomes and the quality of life of individuals affected by stroke.
