Spain’s National Security Framework certifies Vicomtech’s information security processes, reinforcing its position as a trusted research centre

Vicomtech has been awarded certification for compliance with Spain’s National Security Framework (Esquema Nacional de Seguridad – ENS), established under Royal Decree 311/2022. This official recognition confirms that the centre meets the requirements for ensuring information security across the development and delivery of its services.

Achieving this certification marks another milestone in Vicomtech’s commitment to technological excellence and information protection, further strengthening its ability to collaborate with public administrations, companies and organisations operating in environments where security is a critical requirement.

The National Security Framework is an official certification issued by the Spanish Government, rather than a private certification scheme. It establishes the security requirements for information systems used by the public sector and by organisations working with public administrations. Compliance requires the implementation of a comprehensive information security management framework based on continuous risk assessment and the deployment of organisational and technical measures to protect information against potential threats.

For Vicomtech, this certification validates the maturity of its information security management processes and its ability to uphold five key security principles: confidentiality, ensuring that information is accessible only to authorised users; integrity, safeguarding the accuracy and reliability of data; availability, ensuring that systems and information remain accessible whenever required; authenticity, verifying both user identities and the origin of information; and traceability, maintaining a complete record of access and actions performed across information systems.
