ReHABLA is an R + D + i project developed within the framework of the support program for the HAZITEK Competitive R&D of the Basque Government during the 2017-2019 period. Its main objective is the development of an online platform for speech rehabilitation in patients with Acquired Brain Injury (ACD).
This solution is based on automatic speech processing and graphic animation technologies, being able to (1) analyze and evaluate the patient's voice from the phonetic and prosodic aspect to identify their specific problems when speaking and (2) show the patient the optimal articulation for correct pronunciation through animation technology. In this way, Re-SPEAK is able to grant a particular measurement for each patient and quantify their degree of progress within a personalized rehabilitation program.
The project encompasses important scientific-technological challenges such as the adaptation of speech recognition technology to people with speech pathologies, the evaluation of pronunciation quality at the phonetic, articulatory and prosodic levels, establishing a differential diagnosis of the causes of dysfunction or customize the evaluation and individualize the rehabilitation treatment according to the progress of each patient.
With the Re-HABLA online platform, both speech therapists and patients gain autonomy, and in raising and optimizing the rhythms in the care and rehabilitation processes.
