Tool, application and service framework for the configuration of last-generation control centres for sustainable, efficient and secure management of passengers’ and goods’ transport

MultiTrans

Duration:

01.09.2011 - 31.12.2014

The MULTITRANS Project - Tool, application and service framework for the configuration of last-generation control centres for sustainable, efficient and secure management of passengers’ and goods’ transport, under file number IPT-2011-1591-370000, was co-financed by Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación as a co-operation project or action, under the INNPACTO subprogramme for 2011-2014, within instrumental line for System Articulation and Internationalization of the National Plan of Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation 2008-2011.

The MultiTrans Project will materialize into a series of products that will shape a new concept for control centre. This new control centre will be able to reply the current demands different means of transport have, by fulfilling the following requirements: security, reliability, availability, performance, scalability, versatility, automation of operations. Moreover the idea is also to integrate different means of transport, all this in a sustainable and efficient way, trying to turn the comodality concept (efficient and sustainable multimodality) into reality.

The aim of MultiTrans is to join together into a new integral Control Centre all these aspects (systems) by improving the management of rail operations with new technologies. Said improvements are for all operations, not only traffic-related, and they will be done by designing new communication systems and automatic video surveillance systems (intelligent sensors), by continuously monitoring the state of infrastructure and vehicles, by making predictive tracking of elements in movement (being able to automatically create alarms with no need of human action), by managing maintenance works and giving the management system intelligence and automatic learning (predictive maintenance) to help in making decisions, and by guaranteeing this way security in all levels (physical and logical). MultiTrans is presented as an original operation tool which will help maximize benefits and operation of the whole transport framework.

The project is leaded by Angel Iglesias S.A. (Ikusi), and also participate VICOMTECH, LKS S. COOP. LTDA., Innovate and Transport Engineering S.L., Network Process Control System S.L. and Deusto Foundation.
