Virtual 3D Agri-Stage for Experimental Learning

The V3DAS project's challenge is to deploy a business renovation process for farmers, concerning the generational renewal and the incentives for business start-up. V3DAS aims at supporting the sector's innovation process and professional development through agricultural entrepreneurs' knowledge and competence updating, supporting the innovation and technology transfer and boosting the training of farmers to become entrepreneurs.

New technologies are particularly relevant for the project. They are not used as a mere tool to accompany the learning or simply as the opportunity to exploit the potential of new learning environments.  In the project V3DAS the use of ICTs allows to explore new areas of applicability: the simulation of an internship in a virtual and protected environment, reproducing the problems and the interactions of a model farm.  The learners could experiment entrepreneurial roles, "put themselves to the test" to solve challenging situations.

Vicomtech develops a 3D virtual environment representing a vast farm with several productive areas: fruit tree and vegetable crops, agrotourism house, restaurant, shop for farm products, animal breeding and meat production, adventure activities, etc. It is an environment with multiuser support in which several participants can interact and play different roles relevant for the farm work.
